Surgeries are largely considered to be the standard line of treatment for any tumour. But there are instances wherein surgery is possible only for certain patients due to age, co—morbidities or the patient may be immunocompromised. There are
also possibilities of recurrent or residual tumours in case of certain patients.
CyberKnife robotic radiosurgery is an ideal option for cancer treatment when a tumour cannot be operated because it’s too close to critical structures or tumour may only be partially excised. The second instance would be recurrent tumours post-surgery.
Some of the other cases that require CyberKnife robotic radiosurgery post-surgery are:
Trigeminal neuralgia post micro vascular decompression
Note: Outcomes of CyberKnife treatment for any cancer would vary from patient to patient and also on a case to case basis.
